"Camila Giorgi"
Camila Giorgi (born 31 December 1991, in Macerata) is a professional Italian tennis player of Argentine background. Her highest WTA singles ranking is world number 75, where she currently stands.
Camila was born in a Jewish family in Macerata, Italy. Both her parents are from La Plata in Argentina. The Giorgi family is now based in Miami, Florida.
Her elder brother Leandro is studying to be an actor and younger brother Amadeus is training to be a pro soccer player. Her father, Sergio, has fought in the Falklands War. Camila is coached by her father.
Giorgi played in her first grand slam main draw by qualifying for Wimbledon, where she lost in the first round to eventual quarterfinalist Tsvetana Pironkova.
In February Giorgi qualified for the 2012 Memphis International where she shocked the number one seed Nadia Petrova in straight sets before losing in the second round. Giorgi fell in the final round of qualifying at the 2012 French Open but qualified for Wimbledon for the second year in a row. There, she scored her first Slam main draw win by beating compatriot and number #16 seed Flavia Pennetta in the first round. In the second round, she beat Anna Tatishvili in straight sets. In the third round, she beat number #20 seed Nadia Petrova of Russia 6–3, 7–6(6). In the fourth round, she played #3 Agnieszka Radwanska of Poland for a place in the quarterfinals. However, she lost in straight sets, 6–2, 6–3.
In August Giorgi got a wildcard to the 2012 Western & Southern Open and shocked Francesca Schiavone in the first round.
