The show was aiming to target the same audience as previously successful shows

impressed the producers of The O.C. They cast her as Summer Roberts, best
friend of Marissa Cooper (played by Mischa Barton) and spoiled beauty who
personifies the "Valley Girl" stereotype. Since the show's smashing
debut in the summer of 2003, Bilson has become a much-talked about new star and
has been featured many magazines. In late 2006, Bilson was cast in the role of
Millie in Doug Liman's thriller Jumper. It was on the set, where she met her
on-screen boyfriend Hayden
Christensen.

Natalie Portman, Hayden Christensen, Blake Lively and Shia LaBeouf. In
September 2008 she started shooting the indie romantic film Waiting For
Forever, directed by James Keach. Earlier in the year, Rachel got engaged to
Hayden Christensen.

announced in 2011 that Bilson was set to star in a new The CW series called
Hart of Dixie created by The O.C. creator Josh Schwartz. Bilson and Schwartz,
